Post Natal Repair and Prepare Pilates

Our Post Natal class has been running a few years now and I am still amazed by the results - love it!
Learn how to safely and correctly begin to exercise after having a baby, (and how and when to progress) with specific emphasis on regaining tone in the abdominals and pelvic floor, but also freeing up the tight muscles caused by mother hood movement patterns that can be far from desirable for the comfort of your own body (you know what I mean! baby asleep on your arm and you'd rather lose your arm that wake the baby - yep we've all been there!)
Using the latest theories and practices in the field of post natal rehabilitation and exercise to ensure that you get the most from your practice.
Babies are welcome to come to class, we do not use babies in any of the exercises but they are welcome to come and play on the mat or have a nice sleep! babies are welcome up until they are mobile and crawling off!
Mummies can join from 6 weeks post birth or 12 weeks post C Section.
The class will cover basic nutritional needs for the post baby body, releasing tight muscles and correcting and improving breathing techniques to stimulate pelvic floor and tummy muscles to naturally regain their tone.  Rec check and exercises to help close any gap.  Functional exercises with emphasis on posture, breathing and beneficial movement patterns and education on how we should move and why this is important. (If you haven’t been to any of my classes before I strongly believe in educating people with the whys of exercises as well as the how to! And also the how NOT to!!!!)

So working towards a comfortable body with functional strength to help you look after your baby as they grow (and get heavier!)

The classes are on Monday and Wednesday morning at 1030am, the studio is open 15mins before to get baby settled and you organised.

Please bring nappies and milk and a blanket for your baby.  The babies needs will be paramount in class i.e. if baby needs a feed he has a feed.  The exercises will be done as much as possible so that the babies can see you and keep contact with you as much as possible.  I will provide bouncy chair and play-mat so they can have some extra things to look at!

The class will be approximately an hour long and will be term time only.
If you are interested and want to join up please let me know asap. If you are not quite at the start point yet, drop me a line and we can have a chat and pencil you in for an approximate start date.
Pilates

Pilates is for everyone:  People always say to me 'i'm not flexible enough to do Pilates!' Rubbish - you dont need to be flexible you just need to be willing.

If you have an injury we can help you get fit and strong again.  Pilates has a strong rehabilative side to its practice.

If you are unfit and want to get toned.

If you want to get your shape back after children or look after the grandchildren easily, and staying strong as you look after them.

If you are an athlete Pilates is wonderful at creating balance so you can compete at your best.

If you have conditions that affect your balance, your back, or your arms we can help.

We have classes for all ages and ability (and energy!) levels.
We work in association with Physios, Chiropractors and consultants.

If you are unsure please contact me.

Thanks Alex

Pre Natal Pilates

Back due to demand!

Pilates is a wonderful way to keep mobile, strong and comfortable during pregnancy.

For both first time Mums and those on their subsequent births.  From 12 week scan on wards.

Using a combination of modified Pilates and Pre Pilates exercises to keep you fit and maintain muscle tone, focusing on maintaining balanced posture, functional movements and correct muscle length.

We also do some education on how and why the body changes, and how this affects the way we exercise, the practicalities of birth and what actually physically happens. Also information on post natal exercise.

The exercises are tailored to the stage of pregnancy of each individual.  We also finish with a short relaxation/ visualisation exercise to help prepare for birth, techniques to help create and maintain a calm positive attitude to prepare for birth and basic breathing techniques for labour.  It is also a very relaxed and informal environment where friendship and mutual support of other Mums to be is important.

The classes are run along the NICE guidelines  and RCOG guidelines for exercise during regnancy.
